Why Boise garages need more than a paint-on kit

Treasure Valley garages deal with a tough mix: summer afternoons in the 90s and 100s, strong high-desert sun pouring through open doors, dust off the foothills and new-construction streets, then months of snowmelt loaded with salt brine and magnesium chloride. Bare concrete stains, scales and pits. Thin big-box kits rolled over unground concrete often peel under hot tires within a season or two.

  • Diamond grinding instead of acid etching, so the coating bonds into the concrete
  • Real repairs to cracks, spalls and the pitted area just inside the door
  • Moisture checks before we quote, especially on basements and new slabs
  • UV-stable topcoat options for sunny, west-facing garages
  • Straight answers on which system fits your floor and budget

Garage floor epoxy FAQ

How much does it cost to epoxy a garage floor in Boise?

Most Boise-area garage floors fall between about $3 and $10 per square foot installed, depending on the system and concrete condition. A typical 2-car garage usually lands around $2,000–$4,000 for a flake floor. See our cost guide for the full breakdown and calculator.

What's the difference between epoxy and polyaspartic?

Epoxy builds thick and costs less but can amber in sunlight and soften under very hot tires. Polyaspartic cures faster, stays UV-stable and handles heat better, but costs more. Many Treasure Valley floors use an epoxy base with a polyaspartic topcoat for the best of both.

How long does installation take?

Most 2-car garages take one to two days, including diamond grinding, repairs, coating and topcoat. You can usually walk on the floor within about a day, and park on it a few days later depending on the system and temperature.

Will the coating hold up to Idaho winters?

A properly ground and sealed floor resists snowmelt, salt brine and magnesium chloride far better than bare concrete, which scales and pits from freeze-thaw. Squeegee standing slush out occasionally and the coating will protect the slab underneath.

Do you coat floors outside Boise?

Yes — we serve the Treasure Valley, including Meridian, Nampa, Caldwell, Eagle, Kuna, Star, Garden City, Middleton, Emmett and Mountain Home. Every estimate is free and done on site.

Can you coat a brand-new garage floor?

Yes, once the concrete has cured — generally about 28 days after the pour. New slabs usually have a builder curing compound that must be ground off first. Booking early lets you schedule the install right after closing or before you move in.
